Leeds United join £35m surprise transfer battle with Aston Villa and Everton for midfield star

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has spelt it out that his team are still not ready for the challenges of the Premier League next season. He is hopeful that by the end of the window, the club will deliver him the required players to survive in the top flight.

The Whites have spent a shade over £75m to bring in seven new players, but three of them are defenders and two defensive-minded midfielders in Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach. Lukas Nmecha has been the only attacking addition, and he joined the club on a free transfer earlier in the window.

Leeds United are yet to sign a starting number 9, and the Whites are still in the market for a new right-winger. The club are also considering adding more creativity and attacking verve to their midfield before the window slams shut on 1st September.

The Yorkshire giants have held talks with Leicester City midfielder Bilal El Khannouss, and are prepared to pay his £24.5m release clause. However, the club are also keeping tabs on other attacking midfield options this summer.

Aston Villa are pushing for Gabriel Sara, but Leeds United are still in the mix

Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara has been linked with a move away from the club after spending just one season with the Turkish giants.

He joined Galatasaray from Norwich City last year, and his performances in Turkey have led to Premier League clubs chasing him this summer.

Aston Villa are the most advanced in the talks to sign the player, but according to CaughtOffSide, Leeds are still in the mix for the Brazilian midfielder.

Leeds have been keeping tabs on the player, and are considering taking him to Elland Road to add some attacking quality to their midfield ahead of their Premier League.

Everton, Manchester City, Nottingham Forest and Wolves have also been monitoring the former Norwich midfielder at Galatasaray.

The Turkish giants are open to letting the player leave after just one season if a club are prepared to offer them a deal worth £35m in the ongoing transfer window.

Sara would be a top addition to the Leeds squad

Leeds need some creativity in their midfield, and the club have been scouring the market for an attacking midfielder this summer.

Sara would be a massive addition, but it would take some convincing to make him move to Elland Road as Galatasaray will be in the Champions League next season.

Sara is an attacking midfielder in every sense of the word and is always keen to play forward from the middle of the park. His progressive passes and carries can be compared with some of the elite midfielders in European football.

He also takes a chance to get a shot away whenever he is in a good position, and is a major goal threat from the attacking midfield position.

Sara’s stint at Norwich City means he would not need more time to settle into English football, and could be ready to hit the ground running for Leeds.
