A look at the latest injury news surrounding Tottenham and Newcastle United as they prepare to face off in South Korea.
This should be an interesting test for Spurs as they step things up in Asia, and here we round up all the latest injury news surrounding both sides heading into the 1pm (UK time) kick-off.
Lewis Hall - Out
Hall is out long-term with an ankle injury and will miss the start of the season. Eddie Howe has said: “With any injury, especially a long-term one, [a return is] so up in the air. It all depends on how everything goes. For me, my aim is to be fit and ready to go for the first game of the season, but to do that, I'd like to have a few pre-season games as well beforehand.”
Alexander Isak - Out
Isak is not with Newcastle in Asia as he seeks a move amid interest from Liverpool. Howe has said: “Alex has trained this week and he's fine, but we didn't want to take the risk with him today. He was with us all the way through Austria, but today, with all the speculation, I decided to send him home. He needs a little bit more training time, then it's best that he's not here.”
Sven Botman - Doubt
Botman picked up a groin issue recently and will be a doubt here. Howe has said: “Yeah, I didn't necessarily see him struggle at any stage in the game. I think he came off and said his groin was a bit tight. So, fingers crossed he's OK..” It seems unlikely Botman will be risked, but he has not been ruled out yet
Joe Willock - Out
Willock will almost certainly miss out with an ankle injury he picked up last time out. Howe said this week: "We initially feared he could have injured part of his Achilles, but thankfully that wasn't the case. But it looks like he's got a problem with a muscle in the calf. So we feel the injury isn't as serious as maybe first feared, which is great news for Joe, but it's still going to keep him out for a number of weeks. How many we're not sure, but early diagnosis is looking four to six, which, although being a blow, is probably much better than the initial thought. So some positive news on Joe Willock."
Radu Dragusin - Out
Dragusin is going to be out until the winter after suffering a ruptured ACL earlier in the year.
Dejan Kulusevski - Out
Kulusevski is out for now as he continues to return from a knee injury. Thomas Frank has not provided much of an update, only saying in July: “I don’t like to put a timeline on it. Put it this way, he’s not ready for the first game of the season.”
Dominic Solanke - Doubt
Solanke is a doubt as he looks to return from an ankle issue. Frank said this week: “He’s getting closer. We will see if he is close enough for Newcastle. If not, I’m positive for Bayern.”
Bryan Gil - Out
Gil did not travel to Asia due to a knee injury. Former Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou said back in March: “He has a knee injury and needs to speak with Dr. Cugat. We'll see if it's an operation or not. If he has surgery, he could be out for the entire season. But more tests need to be done, and Cugat will decide. It's clear that things aren't looking good, but since tests are still pending, we'll see.”
Manor Solomon - Out
Solomon was also left behind due to an ongoing calf issue. Frank explained: “Manor has a minor calf injury, unfortunately, nothing big.”
Kota Takai - Out
Takai also stayed behind due to an ongoing foot injury. Frank said: “Kota got a plantar fascia injury, unfortunately, we don’t know the scale of it - weeks!”
Destiny Udogie - Out
Udogie will not feature due to an a knee injury. Frank said this week: “Destiny got a knee injury [in the warm-up at Luton on Saturday] that we’re assessing at the moment, that has kept him out of this pre-season tour.”
