Everton are continuing to chase the signature of free agent midfielder Josh Brownhill.

Brownhill, 29, enjoyed an excellent campaign in the Championship last time out, scoring 18 times as Burnley steamrolled their way back to the Premier League.

Brownhill has left Turf Moor this summer after his contract with the Clarets expired, and the Toffees are one of the sides interested in his services.

David Moyes is looking to bolster his squad ahead of his first full season back on Merseyside, after signing Thierno Barry, Carlos Alcaraz, Adam Aznou and Mark Travers thus far.

Everton pushing for Brownhill with Toronto offer on the table

Everton are facing major competition to sign Brownhill this summer, and will need to stump up the cash to convince him to join.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

GiveMeSport (2 August) have reported that Toronto FC have offered the Englishman £100,000-a-week wages to move to North America.

That deal is over double the wages Brownhill was earning at Turf Moor, and his is said to be strongly considering the move to Canada.

Everton are still hopeful of convincing the ex-Manchester United youngster to remain in England, however, but also face a battle with newly promoted Leeds United for his signature.

Brownhill can help Everton push up the table

Everton‘s biggest issue last season was scoring goals, finding the net just 42 times in the Premier League, with only the three relegated sides scoring less.

Brownhill can bring a new goalscoring element, as he finished as runner-up to Leeds’ Joel Piroe in the Championship golden boot race.

Brownhill became Burnley’s biggest goal threat during their promotion campaign last time out

With only Iliman Ndiaye and Beto scoring more than four league goals last season, the midfielder will bring a much needed extra threat going forward, which could help open up the play for his teammates.
