Sean Dyche could yet influence former side Everton’s transfer business this summer.
The ex-Burnley boss was appointed at Goodison Park in January 2023 and kept the Blues in the Premier League in his tenure.
However, he was sacked by the Friedkin Group in January 2025 after less than two years in charge, as results took a turn for the worse.
David Moyes returned to the dugout to replace the 54-year-old, but Dyche may still play his part in their approach for a new signing.

Dyche loves potential new Everton signing Josh Brownhill
The Toffees are reportedly pushing for Josh Brownhill’s signature after he announced that he would be leaving the Lancashire-based outfit after five years.
MORE TOFFEES STORIES
Brownhill was a stalwart of Dyche’s team at Turf Moor after joining the Clarets from Bristol City in 2020.
After the signing was completed, Dyche heaped praise on his new midfield maestro, essentially describing him as the perfect modern midfielder.
In quotes reported by the Burnley Express in January 2020, he said: ”You want a bit of everything. Rather than one slot you can fill, you want someone who can adapt, and, yet again, we aren’t blessed with the money to buy players who literally fit into a system, we have to buy players who can develop and learn, and adapt to a system.
“He’s certainly got that open-mindedness, I spoke to him about that today, and he seems like ‘okay, I’ll take on whatever is needed.’”

Brownhill could be an excellent signing for Everton
Brownhill would be an astute addition for the Blues, given that he would not cost a penny, in terms of a transfer fee anyway.
The 29-year-old would add experience to Moyes’ squad and also bring quality, as he was one of the best midfielders in the Championship last season.

2016: Barnsley (loan)
2016-2020: Bristol City
2020: Burnley
Another thing that the Hill Dickinson Stadium outfit needs from their engine room is goals, and the former Preston man could certainly provide them.
He notched 18 in the second tier last season, as well as six assists in 42 matches, an impressive return that could probably be scaled into the top-flight.
The Merseysiders are short of bodies in midfield, with just Harrison Armstrong, Carlos Alcaraz, Idrissa Gueye, James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam as their current options.
Brownhill would be a low-cost, potentially high-level option that could drastically improve the L4 side, without breaking the bank and leaving money to invest in other areas.
Some supporters may not be keen on a player due to Dyche loving him, but in this case, his judgment is spot on.
