Daniel Farke frustration and Premier League change in Leeds United moments missed

Leeds United's pre-season campaign continued with a 1-1 draw against Villarreal at Elland Road on Saturday.

Aiming to build on a positive start to pre-season, the Whites produced a strong performance against the La Liga side as Joel Piroe scored a second half equaliser to cancel out Etta Eyong's opener.

Daniel Farke's side have now picked up two wins and two draws from pre-season thus far. They face AC Milan in their final friendly next Saturday before their Premier League curtain-raiser against Everton.

As for the Whites' draw against Villarreal, who finished fifth in Spain's top tier last season, Leeds Live has taken a look at the moments you may have missed from the game...

Farke frustration

Farke cut a frustrated figure, at times, during his side's draw against Villarreal. The ex-Norwich City boss is often animated on the touchline but he looked particularly irate in this one.

He wasn't pleased in the 20th minute after Isaac Schmidt's pass was intercepted. The German rushed out to the edge of his technical area before barking out instructions to his players. He then struggled his shoulders before looking in disbelief at what he was watching from his team.

This wasn't the only time that Farke looked baffled. Moments after, he had his head in the hands and didn't appear to be pleased with his side's performance in the first half, especially.

Warm welcome

When the Leeds team was read out before kick-off, the five new signings on display got a loud welcome from the fans inside Elland Road. Gudmundsson, Stach, Longstaff, Nmecha and Bijol were granted a warm reception as they prepared to walk out to the home faithful for the first time.

Joel Piroe was another whose name got cheered loud, following his 19-goal haul last season. Wilfried Gnonto also got a heartened welcome to the pitch from the supporters.

While it's hard to create an intense atmosphere in a pre-season game, the Leeds fans were as loud as ever with Marching On Together being belted out, as always, before kick-off.

Premier League tune

Although this was a pre-season friendly and not a competitive fixture, those behind-the-scenes could not help but play the Premier League theme tune as the players walked out at Elland Road.

Leeds return to the top flight following a two-year absence later this month and the Whites couldn't wait but to use the famous Premier League music as the players stood in front of the John Charles West Stand.
