Green light on move to West Ham – Offer in, player wants transfer, looking good for Hammers

West Ham United’s pursuit of Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor has taken a big step forward, with the player himself now pushing for the move to happen.

According to Globo Esporte, John has informed the Brazilian club that he wants to play in the Premier League, and that stance is helping speed things up behind the scenes. The feeling in Brazil is that a deal could be wrapped up in the coming days.

Botafogo had already turned down an €8m bid from the Hammers this week, as we told earlier, but there’s now a second offer on the table. According to CNN Brasil, that new bid is worth €10m, and the club are not expected to stand in the way of the transfer.

Further context was added by club insider Matheus Medeiros, who revealed that Botafogo are reportedly open to accepting the current offer, largely out of respect for the goalkeeper’s wish to play in the Premier League. It’s a stance consistent with the approach of club owner John Textor, known for backing players’ personal decisions.

The goalkeeper joined Botafogo from Santos in January 2023 for around €1.5m. Eighteen months later, the club could be on the verge of a much bigger payday.

Now that John has made his intentions clear, the pressure is on both clubs to find common ground. And with the Premier League calling, it looks like we might not be waiting long.
