Leeds United urged to seal Championship transfer for player who 'belongs in the Premier League'

Leeds United are hard at work behind the scenes looking to strengthen their squad before the start of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

Although manager Daniel Farke is pleased with the business they have done so far in the summer window, the German still feels they are low on options in a number of positions. One area Farke is particularly keen to strengthen between now and September 1 is the full-back department. His current senior options consist of Jayden Bogle, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Sam Byram and Isaac Schmidt. Switzerland international Schmidt appears to be edging closer to an Elland Road exit, having struggled for game time since moving to English football.

Leicester City defender James Justin is reportedly a player of interest to the Whites. Justin joined the Foxes in an £8m deal from Luton Town back in 2019.

Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman told Football League World: "I can absolutely see why Leeds United would want to sign James Justin. I remember him bursting on the scene with Luton, getting his move and doing great things with Leicester City, getting in the England squad and picking up a terrible injury which took a long time to get over.

"I think there are signs that this 27-year-old, who's in the prime of his physical and mental powers, belongs in the Premier League.

"The area of right back will be very competitive at Leeds United. They already have a very good one in Jayden Bogle.

"But James Justin can also play left-back and with Leeds having lost Junior Firpo, maybe he will provide cover there. I can completely understand that Marti Cifuentes and Leicester would be disappointed to lose him, but this is a player who needs to be playing in the Premier League."
