Leeds United may not be done yet with defensive additions this transfer window.

The Whites bolstered their backline with the likes of former Udinese defender Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw and Gabriel Gudmundsson.

Daniel Farke already has Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk, Ethan Ampadu, Jayden Bogle and Sam Byram at his disposal, but more players are being targeted.

The West Yorkshire outfit don’t have much time left to build a competitive squad for the upcoming campaign, and it will be interesting to see who they can sign in the coming weeks.

James Justin transfer perfect for Leeds United

James Justin should be playing in the Premier League, Don Goodman says.

MORE LEEDS STORIES

Leeds are interested in the Leicester City defender, and the Sky Sports pundit understands why the Whites would want someone like the 27-year-old, who is in his physical and mental “prime”.

Goodman remembers the English right-back bursting onto the scene for Luton Town several years ago, and believes his versatility can come in handy at Elland Road.

Justin signed for Leicester in 2019.

The 27-year-old suffered an ACL injury in the 2021/22 campaign.

Last season, the right-back played 36 times in the Premier League.

Speaking to Football League World (2 August), the former English striker said: “I can absolutely see why Leeds United would want to sign Justin.

“I remember him bursting on the scene with Luton, getting his move and doing great things with Leicester, getting in the England squad and picking up a terrible injury which took a long time to get over.

“I think there are signs that this 27-year-old, who’s in the prime of his physical and mental powers, belongs in the Premier League.

“The area of right-back will be very competitive at Leeds United. They already have a very good one in Jayden Bogle. But James Justin can also play left-back, and with Leeds having lost Junior Firpo, maybe he will provide cover there.”

Justin to replace Isaac Schmidt at Elland Road

Leeds are willing to let Isaac Schmidt join Werder Bremen, and Justin could potentially be a replacement for him.

The Switzerland international struggled for game time at Elland Road last season, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him leave.

Farke would undoubtedly be getting a quality player in the Leicester right-back, who can compete for a place in the starting lineup in LS11.

Justin’s Premier League record last season.

After Junior Firpo’s exit from Leeds, the left-back spot is there for the taking, and the 27-year-old Englishman may be able to pip Gudmundsson in the pecking order.

The Whites will arguably need quality in depth to avoid immediate relegation next season, and Justin’s arrival could provide that.

With the West Yorkshire outfit boasting Premier League football, they shouldn’t have trouble convincing the versatile defender to leave Leicester.
