After the match, Garnacho took to social media to address the fans and admit that while he's been left wrecked by their loss, they'll soon celebrate joy in the form of titles. "I am broken," he wrote. "People who know me know how obsessed I am with winning, and today it couldn’t be.
"Probably one of the hardest days of my life, we will get up again because we are Manchester United. As he said several times, God has taught me to never give up and promise the fans that we will bring joy to you very soon." It was only the following season when Garnacho's promise came to fruition as United exacted revenge on their city rivals in the 2024 FA Cup final.
It was the Argentine himself who opened the scoring in the 30th minute before a second was added nine minutes later through Kobbie Mainoo. Jeremy Doku netted a late consolation, but the Red Devils held on to make it a second consecutive season with silverware.
Despite the stellar end to the 2023/24 season, Garnacho's campaign this past season, like many of his team-mates, was a disjointed and disappointing one. Failing to win over Ruben Amorim, the Portuguese boss told the Argentina international to find a new club this summer, an identical fate also handed to Marcus Rashford, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho.
Chelsea have long been admirers of Garnacho and would certainly appreciate the winning mentality he possesses as reports suggest Enzo Maresca's side are gearing up to put forth an offer for the forward. While his talent is obvious, his behaviour has put him in hot water on multiple occasions with Amorim and previously with Ten Hag.
He was ousted from the United's squad against Manchester City last December, alongside Rashford, after Amorim cited their lack of work ethic. Despite the controversies he's been at the centre of, the Blues are satisfied with his behaviour, according to Telegraph Sport.
They reported that Chelsea have dug into Garnacho's character and personality through a series of background checks. The west London side are said to be happy with the results of the checks but will need to green light the likely outgoings of Christopher Nkunku and Armando Broja before proceeding with a deal to sign the winger.
Garnacho also has interest abroad, but Fabrizio Romano claims that he has told Chelsea they are his number one priority after holding talks with the club.
