BBC Reporter Claims That Chelsea Could Receive "Up To £20M" For Player Who Has Not Made An Appearance For 18 Months

Burnley could pay “up to £20m” for Chelsea forward Armando Broja, according to the BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella.

It is believed that the Clarets have reached an agreement on the transfer fee, with the striker said to be keen on making the switch to Turf Moor.

Broja spent last season out on loan at Everton, and it was always expected that he would be offloaded on a permanent basis this summer, as he is not part of Enzo Maresca’s first team plans.

However, due to his chequered injury record, there were doubts over whether a team would come close to meeting the player’s asking price.

Broja has not played for Chelsea in over 18 months

The Albanian international last featured in a game for his current club in January 2024. He came on as a substitute in the fourth round of the FA Cup against Aston Villa.

Not long after that, Broja was loaned out to Fulham, where he struggled for minutes, making 8 appearances (all from the bench).

His fortunes didn’t improve when he made the switch to Everton last year. Achilles tendon and ankle injuries limited him to only 13 games in total, with four of those being starts. He will be keen to get his career back on track at Burnley.

Further departures are expected over the coming weeks

Before the transfer window shuts on September 1st, the Blues are also hoping to offload the likes of Raheem Sterling, Carney Chukwuemeka, Ben Chilwell, Christopher Nkunku, Lesley Ugochukwu, Axel Disasi and Renato Veiga.

They have already managed to sell 6 players, excluding Broja, with Noni Madueke, Joao Felix, Djordje Petrovic, Bashir Humphreys, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Marcus Bettinelli, bringing in fees in excess of £130m. Broja’s departure could potentially move that figure to above £150m.
