West Ham have tabled an official offer for Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Writing on his X account, Romano said that the Brazilian has been tracked by Manchester United for “months”, but it is the Hammers who have made an approach worth €8m (£7m) for the shot-stopper.
John has impressed for Botafogo over the last year and a half, having helped his team win their first Copa Libertadores title back in November.

The 29-year-old also featured at the Club World Cup, where his side lost to fellow Brazilian outfit Palmeiras in the last 16, having beaten European champions PSG in the group stage of the competition.
West Ham were in negotiations for 2 other keepers
It is believed that the Hammers had been holding talks with Leicester City and Parma, respectively, about Mads Hermansen and Zion Suzuki.
A move for Hermansen was being backed by new goalkeeping coach Casper Ankergren, who had worked with him during his time at Brondby.
However, neither Hermansen nor Suzuki are available on the cheap, with asking prices in the £30m to £40m range. John is a considerably cheaper alternative.
John may not be the only addition over the coming days
With the start of the Premier League season just two weeks away, the pressure is on for West Ham. Having signed just two players (El Hadji Malick Diouf and Kyle Walker-Peters), the club need to get a move on to reinforce the squad.
As well as a new goalkeeper, the club are aiming to strengthen the midfield, with some reports suggesting that there could be up to THREE new arrivals in that area. Support for Niclas Fullkrug is likely to be brought in too, although reports about Callum Wilson have gone quiet.
The Irons have been linked with other strikers, with it being claimed that an approach for a Roma forward could be on the cards
