'Amazing': Conor Coady in no doubt as he picks 'incredible' Everton star in his ultimate…

Conor Coady didn’t spend very long at Everton, but one player clearly made a very big impression on him.

The centre-back joins the project of the Welsh club headed by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, and hopes to help them enjoy a successful first season in the Championship.

Everton had the option to sign Coady permanently at the end of the 2022/23 season but declined. He headed back to Wolves, and then left them to spend a couple of seasons at Leicester City.

Conor Coady didn’t have the spell he really wanted at Everton, but was still proud to have represented the club, and it seems one player left a real impression on him.

Conor Coady selects Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in his best five-a-side team

Coady has done various bits with Wrexham’s media team after signing for them.

And something they asked him for was his best five-a-side team, made up of players he has previously played with.

And there was no doubt in Coady’s mind as to who he’d choose to be the goalkeeper.

Coady said: “Jordan Pickford in goal. Incredible ‘keeper. Brilliant personality. Amazing character. I’ll take Picks in goal.”

Of course, Coady has also gotten to know Jordan Pickford even more in the England set up.

Coady doesn’t make squads any more, but for a time he was getting the nod regularly from Gareth Southgate, who even brought him along to Euros in 2020.

Pickford is one of the best signings in recent Everton history

It is nice to see Pickford coming in for praise from Coady, who clearly rates his former teammate very highly.

As do Evertonians, who have watched Pickford get better and better over the years, and make vital contributions in preserving the club’s Premier League status.

Before the season just gone, Pickford had won Everton Player of the Season for the three years running, which just shows how big a player he’s been for this club.

Eyebrows were raised when he signed for the club from Sunderland in 2017 for £30 million.

But that transfer fee has turned out to be an absolute steal, with Pickford giving years of brilliant service – and it seems he could be sticking around for a lot longer.

It is thought that Pickford has been in talks with Everton over a new contract, and should he sign that could see him play out the rest of his career at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
