Manchester United are preparing for the start of the new 2025/26 Premier League season

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is preparing for his first full season in charge at Old Trafford. The ex-Sporting Lisbon man was picked as their Erik ten Hag replacement during the last campaign. It has since been a mixed spell for him in terms of results.

The Red Devils have the chance to bring in some more players before the end of the window. They have until the deadline on Monday 1st September to conclude any finals deals. In addition, they have the opportunity to let some individuals head out the exit door as well if needed.

Manchester United face Gabriel Sara competition

According to CaughtOffside, Aston Villa are ready to hold ‘talks’ with reported United target Gabriel Sara at Galatasaray. The report adds that Manchester City, Everton, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest are also admirers. The Red Devils have been linked with a £26million move for him, as per Turkish news outlet Aksam.

Sara, 26, is under contract in Istanbul under June 2029. The Brazil-born man made 45 appearances in all competitions in the last campaign. He chipped in with two goals as his current club won the title ahead of Jose Mourinho’s Fenebahce.

The former Sao Paulo youngster moved over to Europe in 2022 when Norwich City came calling. He went on to become a key player for the Canaries in the Championship. He played 93 games during his time in East Anglia and found the net on 21 occasions, 14 of which came in his last term before he was sold.

What now for Manchester United-linked Gabriel Sara?

United could see Sara as someone to boost their midfield department. If he joined, he would give them more competition and depth in the middle of the park. In addition, he could offer them more energy and quality.

He has played in England before which is a boost. That means it probably wouldn’t take him too long to adapt. However, he doesn’t have experience of the Premier League though.

After joining Norwich three years ago, he said at the time: “I’m really excited to join Norwich City. This is a big moment in my career and I can’t wait to see what I can do on the pitch for this club. I spoke with the head coach, Dean Smith, who I am really excited to play for. He and the club have made me feel very welcome.

“It was always a dream for me to leave Brazil and play football in another country. I’ve been at São Paulo for nine or ten years now. I’m really excited for this new challenge. The training ground and facilities here in Norwich are magnificent and I haven’t seen anything like it before. I really can’t wait to get to work here.

“I feel I am a very intense player, who will fight for the team. When the opportunity arises, I go for goal. I’m looking forward to playing at Carrow Road in front of the supporters and want it to happen as soon as possible.”
