Hull City are poised to offer Brandon Williams a contract at the MKM Stadium, having been impressed by his attitude and application during his trial period.
The 24-year-old is expected to be given the opportunity to make his temporary stay permanent as he seeks to revive his career following a tumultuous two years, which included a suspended jail sentence in May.
The ex-Manchester United left-back made his second appearance for the Tigers on Saturday, coming on as a substitute in the second half of City's goalless draw with Spanish La Liga team Getafe, reinforcing his cameo against Sunderland on Tuesday night.
Williams demonstrated his versatility by playing at right-back and performing well after replacing Cody Drameh, while Ryan Giles initially continued on the left side of defence.
City see Williams as a player with genuine potential and believe that under Sergej Jakirovic, they can extract the best from a player who first gained recognition when he burst onto the scene at United earlier in his career, reports Hull Live.
Hull Live understands further discussions will be held with Williams in the upcoming days with the aim of securing him on a free transfer and finalising it before the season opener at Coventry City next Saturday.
Jakirovic acknowledges that Williams will require time to regain his form, having not participated in a competitive match since December 2023, when he was on loan at Ipswich Town in the Championship.
Following the victory over Sunderland on Tuesday night, Jakirovic expressed his belief that Williams deserved another opportunity.
The former United star has confessed his renewed passion for football and is eager to seize the second chance offered by the Tigers.
