David Moyes has shared his frustrations about Everton’s business in the summer transfer window.

Moyes has admitted he’s getting “desperate” for new players with the new Premier League season just weeks away.

Everton have completed the signing of Villareal striker Thierno Barry, while Mark Travers, Adam Aznou and Carlos Alcaraz have also signed permanent deals.

However, it’s not currently looking enough to improve on Everton’s underwhelming 15th-place finish from last season.

Southampton manager Will Still admits he’s in the dark over Dibling

The Toffees remain in the hunt for midfielders though, and are maintaining their interest in Tyler Dibling.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Everton reportedly had a £27million bid for Dibling turned down by Southampton, and are expected to come back with a higher bid shortly for the 19-year-old.

Now, an interview with Saints manager Will Still has suggested that Everton may be about to bring the teenage star to Merseyside.

In an interview with BBC Radio Solent (2 August) Still was asked if Dibling was likely to star at St. Mary’s this summer. His response should fill Everton fans with optimism.

He said: “I’ve no idea. I think the club have set a price. We’ve got good players and there is interest for good players, which is normal.”

Dibling could prove his worth to Everton this season

Some Everton fans are concerned about the club matching Southampton’s £40m valuation of Dibling, suggesting they might be getting ripped off.

They might be put off by Southampton’s woeful showing in the Premier League last season. The Saints only secured 12 points, and Dibling was involved in 33 of their 38 games.

However, the England under-19 star was one of their only players to come out of that season with any credit. He handled himself well against Premier League opponents most weeks, despite the inferiority of his teammates.

In a situation where lesser players would have hidden, Dibling was always demanding the ball and trying to make something happen. Not bad for a teenager.

Dibling has two years on his Southampton contract and has proven he’s capable in the top flight. The going rate for a teenager at that level is around £30m-£40m these days.

Southampton sold Romeo Lavia to Chelsea for £53m in 2023

They sold Tino Livramento to Newcastle for £32m that season

They sold 18-year-old Luke Shaw to Manchester United for £30m all the way back in 2014

All these players look worth the money now, although Lavia has struggled with injuries.

Everton will likely make some negotiations based on performance-based add-ons, but this is a signing that could prove to be beneficial for Moyes and his team.
