Newcastle United want to bring in a new striker before allowing Alexander Isak to leave, amid interest from Liverpool, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.
Isak's future at St James' Park has been a major topic of discussions during the summer transfer window, with the Swedish striker heavily linked with a departure. Liverpool have been firmly in the race to secure his signature, with the former Borussia Dortmund forward currently away from the Newcastle group.
The Magpies recently played against Tottenham Hotspur in South Korea, with Isak nowhere to be seen as speculation grows around the star. Newcastle are still pushing to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko as their prime target ahead of Brentford's Yoane Wissa. Sources are not convinced that Liverpool will actually walk away from a deal to sign Isak, with the Reds putting such thought into trying to secure his signature.
Either way, any deal would be help up and could drag on even if Liverpool do go for him. Newcastle want to ensure they are prepared for life after Isak before sanctioning an exit for the Swedish centre-forward.
