Juventus set key condition for Nottingham Forest deal after transfer talks

Nottingham Forest have held talks with the representatives of former Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz but a loan move will only be sanctioned if there is an obligation to buy the Brazilian.

According to reports in Italy, Forest are keen to bring Luiz back to England from Juventus as they look to continue their transfer business.

Forest are said to be willing to take the midfielder on loan but a potential sticking point remains a clause that holds the key to any deal.

Juventus want to insert an obligation to buy while Forest are keen on option to buy that is said to include clauses based on appearances and results.

It is claimed that if there is no breakthrough, Juventus will keep Luiz and look at other options on the market in a bid to release the midfielder from their books.

The Italian giants have to free up space in order to make their own transfers with Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma regarded as one of their targets.

There is interest from Spain and Germany for Luiz whose move to Juventus has not worked out as planned since he quit Villa last summer.

He has played just 19 games in Serie A this season after making a £42m switch last summer.

It is reported that the next few days are going to be crucial in deciding the player's future with Luiz said to be evaluating Forest's offer but Juventus is waiting to give the green light providing their demands are met.

While Luiz's time in Italy has not gone as everybody expected, Luiz was hugely successful in the Premier League with Villa where he was rated as one of the best midfielders in the division.

He made more than 170 league games for West Midlands side and scored 20 goals having intially signed from Manchester City in 2019 for a fee of £15m.
