Having been criticised for the half hearted way in which the home ‘farewell’ fixtures for Aaron Cresswell, Lucas Fabanski and Vlad Coufal were handled, it seems as if someone at West Ham United has indeed been listening. Fabianski in particular felt he was denied the opportunity to say goodbye on the pitch for the last home game of the season after a lengthy spell at the club.
No such blunder is likely to befall the Hammers over the exit of top Premier League goal scorer and long-time servant Michail Antonio. Whilst Graham Potter’s solitary one-word reply may have unceremoniously put the final nail into the coffin of Antonio’s West Ham career yesterday, news posted on twitter [as yet unsubstantiated] appears to suggest that the club have a more fitting farewell planned.
West Ham Central’s twitter account, amongst others , suggests that “West Ham United are planning to have Michail Antonio back at the London Stadium at an appropriate time, so the fans can say a proper farewell. Antonio will also be given the opportunity to send an open letter or video to supporters.”

Antonio has not featured for West Ham since December immediately before his career threatening car crash that left him in intensive care. The club provided a pre-match presentation to encourage the Hammers number nine and show him the love during his rehab. Good that they’re doing the right thing – more details as and when we have them.
