'It's clear'... Ruben Amorim breaks silence on Alejandro Garnacho as Man Utd star gives 'total priority'

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim spoke honestly about Alejandro Garnacho’s future this summer.

When Marcus Rashford was frozen out of the Manchester United squad in December, Ruben Amorim also dropped Alejandro Garnacho, before later deciding to reintegrate him into the squad.

However, Garnacho’s comments after the Europa League final were deemed unacceptable, with Amorim telling Garnacho to find a new club in front of the entire squad.

This summer, Garnacho is one of five unwanted players who have been banished from first-team training and left at home during the US pre-season tour.

Despite Amorim saying Garnacho will be welcomed back if not sold this summer, he has made it blindingly clear that the young winger is not wanted.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Ruben Amorim was asked about Alejandro Garnacho’s future, and the United boss cleared up the situation.

“I think Garnacho, you can understand and you can see, he’s a really talented boy,” Amorim said.

“Sometimes things don’t work out. You cannot explain specifically what it is. But I have the feeling, I think it’s clear that Garnacho wants a different thing with a different leadership.

“And I can understand that. So I think it’s not a problem.

“Sometimes you adapt to one guy, you have the connection. Other times, you want a new challenge. So, we try to make everything okay to all the parts. To the club, to the coach and to the players.”

Alejandro Garnacho gives ‘total priority’ to Chelsea move

Amorim is right – Garnacho has shown that he wants to move on, and United are not standing in his way.

Ideally, Garnacho wants to stay in the Premier League and Chelsea are the club showing the most interest in his signature.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano now reports that Garnacho has given “total priority” to joining Chelsea this summer, suggesting he is not considering any other option.

However, Chelsea value Garnacho at £30m, while United will likely want a higher fee for the Carrington graduate.

Chelsea are preparing a move for Garnacho but are waiting for sales to take place first – similar to United’s approach for Benjamin Sesko.

However, the Sesko saga could accelerate if United cash in on Garnacho sooner rather than later.
