Manchester United are gearing up for the start of the new 2025/26 Premier League season
Manchester United have the chance to bring in some more new signings over the coming weeks. The transfer window shuts on Monday 1st September. They also have the opportunity to let some players head out the exit door as well if needed.
The Red Devils finished down in 15th place in the Premier League last season. They also reached the Europa League final but were beaten by Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao. The North West giants will be hoping for a better showing in the next campaign under Ruben Amorim.
Manchester United academy graduate Brandon Williams in line for Hull City deal
Hull City have been taking a look at United academy graduate Brandon Williams on trial over recent times. The defender is a free agent and has been weighing up his next move in the game. He has featured for the Tigers in recent pre-season friendlies against Sunderland and Getafe.
In this latest update regarding his situation, HullLive claim the East Yorkshire club will ‘offer’ him a permanent contract. They are preparing for another year in the Championship. Ex-Dynamo Zagreb and Kayserispor boss Sergej Jakirovic was picked as their manager last month to replace Ruben Selles.
Williams, 24, could be seen by Hull as someone to boost their defensive department. If he joined, he would give them more competition and depth at the back. He can play on either flank of defence which is useful.
Jakirovic has recently said: "I like to help people because everyone deserves a second chance in life. I spoke with him very honestly, and I explained to him what I expect from him. We will be very careful, very, very slow. We have time, so we will try to help him.
"I think the quality is there because he was on a high level at Man United, so his quality is there. We need him to bring good fitness, and then we will make a decision. For me, his mentality is good. From our conversations, he's a very normal guy. He just asked me yesterday (Monday), 'can I play?' and then I asked him, 'do you feel comfortable to play some minutes?’ His desire is there, and so is the hard work. On Saturday, we left here here in Hull to carry on training and so far, everything has gone according to the plan."
Brandon Williams story so far
Williams rose up through United’s ranks and was a regular for them at various different youth levels. He made his debut in September 2019 in a cup clash against Rochdale. The Manchester-born man went on to play 51 games in all competitions and chipped in with one goal from the back.
He was also loaned out to Norwich City and Ipswich Town to get some experience away from Old Trafford. The former England youth international cut ties with the Red Devils in June last year and has been without a team since then. However, he may now found himself a new home at the MKM Stadium.
A move to Hull would give Williams the chance to get some regular first-team football under his belt in the second tier. He needs minutes and the Tigers would be able to offer him that. They could also provide him with a platform to show what he can do and potentially sell him on in the future.
