A competitive game in our final match of our Asia tour today, where Harvey Barnes’ superb strike was the highlight along with Anthony Gordon’s sharp display and Lewis Hall’s return after five months out.

Here are our thoughts on each performance out in Seoul, along with our marks out of 10:

Pope (6.5) – Couldn’t do much about the goal after taking a big deflection off Burn, but made a crucial one one-on-one save to deny Tel. Other than

Trippier (6) – Solid enough but had a few nervy moments marking Son including picking up a yellow card.

Schar (6.5) – Passing radar was working today and fizzed a shot over the bar in the first half. Crucial interception in the second half stopped a dangerous counter attack.

Burn (6.5) – Bailed out by his teammates on a couple of occasions but was his usual reliable self otherwise. Looked to get tight.

Targett (4) – Horror moment in the first half as he was easily shrugged off by Tel. Didn’t do anything to suggest he’s anything other than a fringe squad member this season, at best. Looked off the pace and slow, not for the first time over pre-season.

Guimaraes (7) – Got up close and personal with Romero in the first half that probably would’ve resulted in a red card in a competitive game. Always willing to receive the ball but has found himself losing possession in dangerous areas a bit too often. Great interplay with Joelinton in the build up to the equaliser and could’ve got an assist had his brilliant cross for big Joe been headed in.

Miley (6) – Tidy in possession and often makes the right decision on the ball. However, f he is to play in the number six role then he needs to improve the defensive side of his game. Was caught not tracking runs a lot in the first half. Can expect plenty of game time this season

Joelinton (6.5) – Could and should have been a higher mark had his finishing been better. Glanced a big chance wide with his head, was sometimes a little loose in possession, but made up for that with his immense physicality and aggression. Smashed into Spence, Gray and Romero in a surprisingly physical ‘friendly.’

Murphy (7) – Typical performance from Murphy with some inviting crosses thrown into the box but no recognised striker to capitalise. Did his defensive duties well which is an underrated aspect to his game

Barnes (7.5) – Fantastic finish to a scintillating counter attack. Did his chances of starting in the Premier League no harm at all. Looked to take on the full back at every opportunity

Gordon (7.5) – Ran his socks off and had one of his better outings as a striker. Doesn’t have natural striking instincts but instigates the press better than anyone else in the team. Could be poised for a big season

Livramento (6.5) – Played at left back and then right back showing his versatility. Made some good defensive reads but didn’t offer much going forward

Osula (5) – Hasn’t been able to capitalise on his strong Euro U21 performances as he again struggled to get into the game. Really needs a goal before the season begins.

Seung-Soo (7) – Decisive on the ball, with one sharp dribble and quick pass to Bruno, followed by a wicked cross no one in green could make the most of. Has done his chances of playing no harm at all with another energetic performance off the bench. Still raw but the talent is there for all to see.

Hall (7) – First job was to cover for a Burn mistake which immediately shows his value to the team. Also helped with our link up play with a few neat one-twos. Relief to see his back fit and healthy.

Gillespie (NR) – Kicking poor.

Elanga (NR) – Didn’t see much of the ball in the final stages.

Krafth (NR) – Slotted in for Schar late on. Good to see he’s OK after limping off in midweek.

Hernes (NR) – A few tidy touches in midfield.
