Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez has ‘agreed a deal in principle’ over a summer move to the Saudi Pro League, journalist Graeme Bailey has claimed.
The Uruguayan forward is now one step closer to departing Anfield for the Middle East, with Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli seen as his two most realistic destinations.
Liverpool are believed to be in talks with the Saudi Pro League over a deal for Nunez, while his camp have already agreed personal terms ahead of an imminent departure.
Saudi clubs are said to be willing to match Liverpool’s asking price – over £60m – which proved to be a stumbling block for Serie A champions Napoli, who also showed interest earlier this summer.

According to Bailey, Nunez is set to become the next major Liverpool outgoing following Luis Diaz’s move to Bayern, with agreement over a prospective move to Saudi Arabia already in place:
“Liverpool have a lot going on, and sales are part of their summer as well as the major incomings. Diaz is done but Nunez was always seen as the big sale.
“Liverpool respect Nunez hugely, they think he is a top talent but it has not worked out for him and he accepts that too. He has seen Wirtz and Ekitike come in and knows they want Isak – he knows there is little future for him.
“Nunez knows he is highly unlikely to get his move in Europe and that has seen him agree to a prospective move to Saudi Arabia.”
Nunez, once praised as ‘world-class’, joined Liverpool from Benfica in the summer of 2022 in a then club-record £85m deal.
The Uruguayan forward struggled for regular minutes under Arne Slot last season, making just eight Premier League starts and scoring five goals.
Nunez has made 143 competitive appearances for Liverpool to date and has won three major titles, including the Premier League in 2024/25 and the League Cup in 2023/24.
