Paul Joyce: Everton eyeing move to sign Premier League midfielder who won 2 trophies last season

Everton have shown an interest in Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, according to Paul Joyce of The Times.

Having returned to Everton for a second stint in charge in January earlier this year, David Moyes is now in the midst of his first summer in the role, having steered Everton away from a relegation battle in the second half of last season. Moyes, alongside a new ownership and new stadium, have contributed to a sense of optimism amongst club supporters.

The Toffees, who are exploring further transfer deals, have been active in the market to date, signing striker Thierno Barry, left-back Adam Aznou and goalkeeper Mark Travers whilst making the loan of Charly Alcaraz permanent. Moyes, however, has made it clear that he will need further additions ahead of the new campaign.

Now, it appears that Everton have been monitoring a midfield talent who could look for more minutes in the coming season.

Paul Joyce has reported that Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is a player that Everton appreciate. The midfielder played a key role in Leicester City’s Championship-winning team two seasons ago and followed his manager, Enzo Maresca, to Stamford Bridge in the summer following their promotion in a £30 million transfer.

Though he featured prominently in the Conference League and played at the Club World Cup, two trophies won by Chelsea last season, Dewsbury-Hall logged just over 250 minutes in the Premier League, sparking rumours about his future with the Blues. Joyce stated that Everton are in the market for two midfielders, a bracket into which Dewsbury-Hall fits.

Everton have shown an interest in Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz and in Dewsbury-Hall, have a player they could target alongside or instead of the Brazilian. Comfortable in and around either box, Dewsbury-Hall could prove to be a brilliant addition for Moyes should the Toffees pursue a move for the 26-year-old.
