John Stones is set to embark on his 10th season at Manchester City.
The central defender is looking to be a much more regular feature in the team in 2025/26, having again missed a chunk of last season through injury.
John Stones missed 33 games of last season through injury, and was able to start just six games in the Premier League.
After recently admitting to having ‘dark days’ about his latest setback, Stones insisted that he is ready to stay at Man City and fight for his place.
There had previously been suggestions that Stones could leave City this summer. But there haven’t really been any noises about that just lately, suggesting he is likely now staying put.
And if that does prove to be the case, then fans would love for him to just avoid spending so much time in the treatment room.

Conor Coady knows Stones, having been in the England set-up with him.
Coady has just completed a move to Championship new boys Wrexham, and as part of his unveiling, the defender was asked for his best five-a-side team, of players he’s either played with or against.
Coady chose to pick players he’s played with.
His defender of choice was Stones – and Coady reckons only his injury record prevents him from being one of the very best in the world.
He said: “I’m gonna go John Stones centre-back.
“I played with him for England, I think he’s one of the best centre-backs.
“I think if he never got as many injuries, I think he’d be up there with the best in the world. But I think he’s outstanding, so I’ll go with John Stones.”

John Stones could play final season for Man City
It is very possible that City fans may be about to watch Stones play one last season at the Etihad Stadium.
His contract expires in the summer, and one would imagine City won’t be making any decisions any time soon about whether to offer an extension.
Ultimately, it will all depend on how Stones gets on this term and how much he plays.

Appearances – 277
Trophies won – 15
It is simply not a question of ability with Stones. As Coady suggests, he would be one of the best in the world if he wasn’t plagued by injuries and fitness issues.
On his day, Stones is world-class – but those days sadly haven’t been able to come often enough.
But who knows, maybe this season will be his lucky break, and he is able to convince City to hand him a new deal.
