Manchester United plan to purchase a rail freight terminal as part of their Old Trafford Regeneration Project
Manchester United are reportedly they plan to use as part of their Old Trafford Regeneration Project.
Building a 100,000-seater stadium next to Old Trafford is the centerpiece of that proposal. United estimate the whole outlay at £4.2billion, with their new home to cost around £2billion.
Minority owner has previously called for a 'Wembley of the North' while architects Foster and Partners have referred to it as 'New Trafford Stadium' in a factsheet. The club hopes to begin playing there in time for the 2030/31 season, which is now five years away.
However, those plans reportedly from the haulage company Freightliner. claims that United value their land between £40million and £50million, whereas their parent company, Brookfield, reputedly want around £400million.
These reports emerged five months after Lord Norman Foster's firm unveiled conceptual images and scaled models in March. They produced artist impressions showing various aspects of the plan; below is a reminder of those images:
