Liverpool FC has officially re-signed 21-year-old goalkeeper Jacob Poytress, reversing an earlier decision to release him.
Poytress was originally among the academy players set to depart this summer after his contract expired.
But further evaluations within the club prompted a quiet shift, bringing him back under a new arrangement focused on development rather than first-team action.
Rather than heading out on loan or exiting the system entirely, Poytress has returned to Kirkby in a hybrid role that combines player duties with coaching support.

Poytress to Play Dual Role at Kirkby
Under the terms of his new deal, Poytress will continue to train regularly as part of the club’s goalkeeping group, maintaining match fitness and technical sharpness (via Jack Lusby).
