How Man Utd loanee Dan Gore fared on his return for Rotherham, most important objective achieved

Manchester United youngster Dan Gore is back at Rotherham United for the 2025/26 season.

Dan Gore is hoping this season will be third-time lucky after two loan spells were cut short by injury. This time he is on a full year-long loan instead of moving mid-season.

Gore had been injured on his debut for Port Vale in January 2024, and it was his only appearance for the club, later requiring surgery.

The United loanee then suffered an injury on his Rotherham debut in January 2025, in which he provided an assist, before returning to play the final two games of the season.

The Millers brought him back for a second stint at the club and he went straight into their starting line-up for their 2025/26 League One opener.

Dan Gore features in Rotherham win

Due to injuries, Dan Gore’s prospects at Manchester United have dimmed since he made his Manchester United debut in September 2023.

Rotherham clearly rate him highly, bringing him back at the end of last season and then pushing to win the race for his loan signature.

Gore started for Rotherham against his other former loan side Port Vale, helping his current team to a 2-1 victory.

The United loanee played 67 minutes, with Rotherham 2-1 up at the time he was taken off, and they were able to hang on to claim all three points.

Gore did not see a lot of the ball, managing 19 touches, while winning the one tackle he contested. He won 4/10 duels.

He still managed to create one goalscoring chance. Gore also picked up a yellow card in the 53rd minute.

Most importantly, Gore came through the game injury-free and ready to go again next Saturday when Rotherham take on Stevenage away from home.

There was tentative approval for Dan Gore’s second Rotherham debut in the local media.

The Rotherham Advertiser graded Gore’s performance as a 6/10, noting: “Looked threatening early on before fading.”

Gore was one of a handful of loanees and debutants, with manager Matt Hamshaw commenting: “It’s good that the new lads have got minutes.”

Back in 2022, Gore was part of Manchester United’s FA Youth Cup winning team alongside Kobbie Mainoo in midfield. He needs this loan spell to be a success to stand a chance of playing alongside the United and England star again.
