“That’s my hope” – Departing Son Heung-min outlines his wish for Tottenham in the upcoming…

Tottenham Hotspur fans had a very emotional day against Newcastle United as they bid adieu to one of their modern-day legends, Son Heung-min. The South Korean is set to leave the N17-based club this summer.

It has been a difficult few days to process this announcement from the club captain. Everyone knew the day was coming sooner rather than later, with the 33-year-old getting on in age. However, it still doesn’t make it feel any better.

Thomas Frank gave Sonny a classy gesture and made him start the game against Newcastle United. He also captained the side for one last time. Incidentally, he will always be remembered as the captain who brought back trophies to the N17.

Son had a wish he hopes Tottenham will fulfil

Son was visibly emotional after the game. He is saying goodbye to a place he has called home for 10 years now and one cannot imagine it to be easy. He spoke to SPURSPLAY as quoted by the Standard and here is what he had to say:

“I hope they win all the five competitions [including the FA Cup and Carabao Cup]. That’s my wish, and that’s my hope.”

Having finally gotten the monkey off the back with the Europa League win over Manchester United last season, it is time for Tottenham to push on and secure more trophies this season to prove to the world that the victory last season wasn’t an aberration.

Son Heung-min might not be around to lift the trophies, should Spurs win any this season, but there is no doubt that it would make him feel very proud. There are a number of trophies that the club can secure this year.

Tasting early silverware

Thomas Frank has a very talented squad at his disposal. Having tasted blood last season, they would want to experience that feeling more. The Danish tactician will be keen to start it off by winning the UEFA Super League.

Spurs would be facing PSG in the competition and it will not be an easy game. The French giants are the defending Champions League winners which technically makes them the best team in Europe.

Beating them and getting their hands on silverware early on in the season would be a huge boost for the Spurs squad, which is set to lose their talisman. Meanwhile, everyone at the N17 wishes the South Korean the very best in whatever he does next.
