Free agents still available to sign this summer as Man City and Man United continue their transfer business.
As is always the case, there are still plenty of names in the free agent pool who are looking for their next club. While both Manchester clubs have been enjoying spending the cash so far, the free agent market is always available to add extra firepower to their ranks.
We’ve listed nine exciting players who are currently without a club and are still free to sign as things stand.
Goalscorers currently available as free agents
Josh Brownhill: After opting not to stay with recently promoted Burnley, Brownhill is open to his next move. The midfielder scored 18 goals in the Championship last season and has turned a lot of heads as a result.
Jamie Vardy: The Leicester City icon is the subject of a lot of attention right now as he’s available to sign for free. His Premier League pedigree speaks for itself and even as an option off the bench, he’d still be a solid asset to most clubs at 38 years of age.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin: While injuries disrupted his recent seasons with Everton, fans will remember his 21-goal tally during the 2020/21 season. Calvert-Lewin is capable of being a real threat in attack and could be a solid option to come off the bench.
Abdoulaye Doucoure: Another free agent from Everton. With Doucoure, it wasn’t always about the amount of goals, but the importance of them. The midfielder often provided a clutch goal to turn a game around for the Blues, which is a strong trait to have in a playmaker.
Dusan Tadic: A 36-year-old isn’t often at the top of a club’s transfer wish list but Tadic continues to prove he still has it in him to control a game. The winger tallied 11 goals and 14 assists in 35 league appearances for Fenerbahce last season and had similar numbers the campaign before too. Tadic can play on either wing or in attacking midfield.
Defenders and goalkeepers available for free this transfer window
Takehiro Tomiyasu: The defender left Arsenal this summer as he continues to recover from a knee injury. While his fitness is a concern on the transfer market, Tomiyasu is a solid defender when fit and firing. The Japanese international is versatile and could provide cover across the backline, if not signed to be a starting option.
Angus Gunn: Gunn started his career at City but never made a senior appearance. The goalkeeper has since earned experience with the likes of Southampton and Norwich City. His appearances for Scotland also make him a solid figure to have in rotation.
Nicolas Tagliafico: While both City and United have a few options at left-back, Tagliafico is solid Argentinian international with a wealth of experience across multiple leagues, including the Eredivisie and Ligue 1.
Daniel Amartey: Part of the Leicester City side that won the Premier League. Amartey is a centre-back by trade but shifted into a starting midfield role to replace the departed N’Golo Kante.
