Tyrique George could be on his way out of Chelsea, as frustration boils over amid limited minutes. After a season of mixed minutes and growing uncertainty, the academy winger has now asked to leave the club this month. George wants regular first-team football, and Bundesliga clubs are already queuing up.
RB Leipzig and Borussia Monchengladbach are leading the race for the 19-year-old—with both loan and permanent options on the table. George wants to finalise his future quickly before Chelsea trims their pre-season squad any further.
Leipzig and Gladbach in pole position
The Bundesliga club have already spoken with intermediaries and regard George as a potential long-term project. They are huge fans of his ability on the ball and versatility, and think the Bundesliga could be where he shines best. Gladbach are also keen, especially after losing key attackers this summer.
Leipzig even name-dropped Tyrique George while discussing Xavi Simons with Chelsea, though the deals remain separate. Both German sides could offer George what Chelsea can’t right now: consistent senior minutes and a clear development path.
With wide positions at Stamford Bridge crowded—thanks to Cole Palmer, Pedro Neto, Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap—George’s future at Stamford Bridge looks increasingly uncertain. He was part of Chelsea’s Europa Conference League run last season but didn’t feature in the final. The writing’s on the wall.

Chelsea prefer loan, Tyrique George wants more
Chelsea still rate George highly. Their preference is a loan to Germany, keeping him tied to the club. But George’s camp is pushing for a clean break—believing he’ll benefit more from starting fresh elsewhere.
And according to Fabrizio Romano the player has now submitted a transfer request while Chelsea are willing to negotiate. A decision is expected soon.
Another Cobham gem could sparkle elsewhere soon. Unless Chelsea rewrite the script, George’s next dribble might light up Bundesliga nights instead.
