Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim was not overly pleased with how his side finished their tour of the United States.
After three matches in America, Manchester United will return to England as the champions of the Premier League Summer Series.
United drew 2-2 with Everton in Atlanta to round off the 2025 US pre-season tour, with Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount on the scoresheet.
There were some exciting attacking movements with Bryan Mbeumo making his debut alongside fellow new signing Matheus Cunha.
But it was back in defence where Ruben Amorim was not pleased with his side’s performance.

Ruben Amorim fuming at Man United’s defence
United showed glimpses of brilliance going forward against Everton, with Mbeumo, Cunha and Bruno Fernandes linking up well in the first half.
But unlike against Bournemouth, United were sloppy in possession and left too many spaces in defence.
Manuel Ugarte struggled in particular, giving the ball away far too easily, including for Everton’s equaliser scored by Iliman Ndiaye.

As pointed out by journalist Laurie Whitwell, Amorim was “not happy” with his side’s defending and even brought it up in his half-time interview.
“When Ugarte has the ball, you can see the defence walking towards the box. We need to sprint,” Amorim said.
“When Ugarte loses the ball we need to be at least on the edge of the box. These small details we need to improve.”
Man United given reality check during Everton draw
Throughout the entire pre-season tour, it has been pointed out that there has been a really positive atmosphere in United’s squad.
The victories against West Ham and Bournemouth sparked a huge amount of excitement in the fanbase about the upcoming season, and there was still lots to like in the draw against Everton.
But it was important for United to not get carried away, and the draw to Everton also highlighted some of the weaknesses in Amorim’s side.

The Red Devils will now head back to Manchester and will prepare for one final pre-season friendly against Fiorentina. Amorim will know exactly what his side needs to work on with the Premier League season now just two weeks away.
The Everton draw also settled any debate about United still needing more reinforcements this summer. A new goalkeeper, midfielder and striker are still very much a top priority.
