Bhutan’s Crown Prince Jigme Namgyel and Prince Ugyen Wangchuck attended a basketball showcase with an exhibition.
The two sons of King Jigme Khesar and Queen Jetsun Pema watched the Hoops For Happiness exhibition at the Jungzhina Multipurpose Complex.
Hoops For Happiness is “a special coaching programme organised by the Bhutan Olympic Committee and the Bhutan Basketball Federation, in collaboration with the US professional basketball league, the NBA,” according to the Royal Office for Media.
While there, a youth Basketball League for younger players was officially inaugurated.
NBA stars Mason Plumlee, Justin Holiday, Jonathan Isaac, and AJ Green took part in the game and are in Bhutan to promote sports and mentor young people as part of the special programme.
The nine-year-old Crown Prince and his five-year-old younger brother posed with the NBA stars after the game.
The NBA stars have been in the capital of Thimphu and in Paro, coaching and holding showcase events. They’ve also spent time interacting with basketball fans and were seen running stairs with the youth and signing autographs in an Instagram video.
