It is not just Newcastle United who are waiting with bated breath for a decision from key transfer target Benjamin Sesko over his future.

What the Slovenian striker decides in the coming days could have a huge impact across the footballing world, with several deals hanging on the call from the 22-year-old.

Newcastle are keen to bring Sesko to Tyneside as Eddie Howe looks to make a major transfer statement following a difficult summer for the United head coach.

The blow of Alexander Isak's wish to leave to St James' Park would be softened somewhat if Newcastle manager to land Sesko, who is one of the hottest properties in European football.

RB Leipzig have made their demands clear, and it appears it will be down to the player to decide where his future lies, with the striker left ouf of their squad for Saturday's friendly with Atalanta.

Manchester United remain interested in Sesko too, with Ruben Amorim attempting to sell his ambitious plans to the forward - while Newcastle can offer Champions League football next season.

Whoever misses out will turn their attentions to key alternatives, with Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins said to be high on the wishlist for bothy clubs.

Villa could be open to selling the striker, with Unai Emery keen on bringing Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson the the Midlands. The pair worked together at Villarreal and Watkins' sale could help finance a deal for Jackson.

Of course Liverpool will be watching the situation closely in the hope that if Newcastle land Sesko, they may be more inclined to listen to their offers for Isak.

The Reds' first offer was immediately turned down and while United will stick to their guns over the asking price for the Swede, negotations may run smoother should Sesko be confirmed as a Newcastle player.

Liverpool are said to be considering a move for Real Madrid forward Rodrygo should they fail to make progress with Isak. The Brazilian has fallen down the pecking order in Spain under Xabi Alonso and could be available this summer - potentially for as little as £70m.

That in turn would facilitate Darwin Nunez's Anfield exit, with AC Milan keen on the Uruguay striker. A deal to Napoli fell through, but Nunez is expected to leave Liverpool once they have a new striker secured.

Newcastle still remain interested in Brentford's Yoane Wissa, although landing Sesko may mean they can afford to play hardball with the Bees over the asking price for the forward.

The player is said to be keen to move to Tyneside, but United are so far unwilling to match Brenftord's demands.

Sesko is said to be close to making up his mind on this future - but there is plenty riding on his decision in the coming days.
