Report: 'World-class' player who spoke to his teammates about joining Man City is now keen on…

Before the start of the season, Manchester City and Manchester United will be looking to bolster their rosters in a summer where it has been necessary for both clubs to rebuild their squads.

After enduring difficult campaigns during the 2024/2025 season, Pep Guardiola and Ruben Amorim would have demanded the addition of fresh faces.

While Manchester United’s business has largely been focused on improving their attack by signing Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, Manchester City have prioritised making additions across the pitch.

This summer, both clubs seem to have targeted the same player at times as well, with both Manchester City and Manchester United eyeing Morten Hjulmand.

Similarly, Ruben Amorim was keen on signing Manchester City target Diogo Costa as well.

Gianluigi Donnarumma is another player who has piqued both Manchester clubs’ interest.

United have formally registered their interest in signing the Italian international, who could leave PSG as Lucas Chevalier’s move to the French capital is imminent.

However, as things stand, any potential transfer involving Donnarumma, who Luis Enrique called “world-class” is not believed to be imminent, with the Red Devils needing to offload either Andre Onana or Altay Bayindir — with there being no buyers for the former in particular.

Ederson’s chances of leaving Manchester City

Pep Guardiola has always admired Donnarumma and if Manchester United were to get his hands on him, the Manchester City boss would concede that they would have a top-class goalkeeper on their hands.

Ederson could still leave Manchester City in the summer despite Stefan Ortega being asked to depart the Etihad Stadium by the club.

As a result, perhaps City must keep a close eye on Donnarumma’s situation in Paris.
