Former Knicks player Chris Jent is reportedly a top candidate to join Mike Brown’s coaching staff in New York.
New York Knicks are continuing to reshape their coaching staff under new head coach Mike Brown, and another familiar face could soon be joining the bench.
According to ESPN’s Frank Isola, Charlotte Hornets assistant coach Chris Jent has emerged as a leading candidate to join Brown’s staff in New York.
The two have a long-standing connection, having previously worked together on the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2006 to 2009.
Jent recently led the Hornets’ Summer League squad to a championship and is widely respected for his offensive mind. If hired, he’s expected to handle an offensive coordinator role for the Knicks.
Jent brings over two decades of coaching experience, with stops in Philadelphia, Orlando, Sacramento, Atlanta, and Los Angeles.
He also coached in college with Ohio State and served briefly as the Magic’s interim head coach in 2005, going 5-13 in 18 games.
Interestingly, Jent also has a short history with the Knicks. He played three games for New York during the 1996-97 season, averaging 2.0 points.
