Alexander Isak and Benjamin Sesko are the two strikers subject to significant speculation now that just four weeks of the transfer window remain.

Both could be Newcastle United players at 7pm on September 1, or they may be set to face off when Liverpool host Manchester United at Anfield the following month. That would be the nightmare scenario on Tyneside, but there is still hope that such a situation will not transpire.

The expectation is that Isak will return to training this week while negotiations continue over a move for Sesko. Chronicle Live rounds up the latest transfer rumours below:

Newcastle want Sesko decision

Newcastle are said to want a decision from Sesko on whether the striker wants to sign within the next 24 hours. The Daily Mail also claims Goncalo Ramos is on the club's list of alternatives, which also reputedly includes Ollie Watkins.

Chronicle Live says: Pushing for a decision from Sesko seems sensible at this stage, as Newcastle have already been in the same situation several times before this summer. Ramos emerging as an alternative could also be a way of applying pressure to show that they will pursue other players should a deal not progress.

Isak twist involving Nunez

Al-Hilal are reportedly now prioritising Darwin Nunez, with signing either Alexander Isak or Benjamin Sesko looking unattainable. The Athletic also claims Nunez is thought to be receptive to the possibility of signing for the Saudi Pro League club, something Isak at least was not.

ChronicleLive says: Liverpool selling Nunez for a significant fee could expedite any second offer for Isak due to a heightened need for another striker with just four weeks of the window remaining. Newcastle, though, would thus know that the Reds have further funds available and potentially raise their asking price in line with the buying club's increased budget.
