Marc Guiu’s move from Chelsea to Sunderland looks to have hit a bit of a small snag.
Last week, it was reported that Marc Guiu was set to join Sunderland after the Black Cats agreed a loan deal with Chelsea.
The young forward is unlikely to get game time under Enzo Maresca in the new season, with the Blues signing Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.
However, a transfer to Sunderland may not be imminent following a development on Sunday.

Marc Guiu’s flight was postponed as Chelsea exit is delayed
Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie broke the story about Sunderland’s interest in Guiu and has given an update on the 19-year-old’s potential move to the Stadium of Light on the social media platform X.
According to Downie, Guiu was supposed to fly to the North East on Sunday ahead of his medical, but that flight was “postponed”.
Downie says the deal is not dead yet, but Sunderland fans will be concerned by this latest development.
The newly-promoted Premier League side are not the only club who are interested in the Spaniard. It has been claimed that RB Leipzig have also looked at Guiu.

Sunderland interested in another Chelsea player
Guiu is not the only Chelsea player who has caught Sunderland’s attention during this transfer window. It is being reported that Sunderland have also showed interest in Deivid Washington, who is one of many forgotten men at Stamford Bridge.
He has made just three senior appearances for Chelsea since signing for the club from Santos in 2023.
After his impact in the Conference League last season, though, Guiu is the Blues player Sunderland fans will really want. The former Barcelona man scored six goals in seven appearances as Chelsea went on to win the competition.
