Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund was spotted fuming at Patrick Dorgu after he did not square the ball to him during yesterday’s friendly against Everton.
The Red Devils played out a 2-2 draw versus the Toffees in the Premier League Summer Series.
Bruno Fernandes was the star of the show with a goal and an assist. Iliman Ndiaye and an own goal from Ayden Heaven allowed the Toffees to share the spoils in Atlanta.
United had more shots on target than the Toffees (six to two), but they lacked the cutting edge. There was also some average decision-making towards the end of the game.
In the 86th minute, Dorgu received a fabulous through ball from Mason Mount. He had the opportunity to square the ball to Hojlund for a potential tap-in, but did not do so.
The Dane instead tried to beat goalkeeper Jordan Pickford on his own. The England international made a fine diving save to his left much to the frustration of Hojlund.
Hojlund was stationed onside at the far post. He kicked the woodwork in utter frustration and had some words for Dorgu.
Hojlund had a disappointing 2024/25 Premier League season with the Red Devils. He scored only four goals over the top-flight campaign and had limited service upfront.
The 22-year-old came on as a late substitute against the Toffees yesterday. He could have scored the winning goal, had Dorgu spotted his clever run into the penalty box.
Instead, he was left frustrated as usual. The former Atalanta man has been the subject of regular speculation with reports claiming that he could be sold by the club.
With United’s pursuit of RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko, it has been claimed that the striker could be sold for just £30 million – a significant loss on the £72m outlay two years ago.
