On Friday, Corriere Torino reported Nottingham Forest are in pole position in the race to sign Juventus’ Douglas Luiz.
At the weekend, Corriere dello Sport reported Nottingham Forest director Edu Gasper is pushing to bring the midfielder to the club.
Nottingham Forest are moving ahead to secure the midfielder’s services this summer, according to multiple claims from Italy.
Quotidiano Sportivo now report the Serie A side are in ongoing negotiations with the Reds for the 27-year-old, who is most likely to leave.
The former Aston Villa man has said yes to Nuno Espírito Santo’s side, who now have to find an agreement with Juve. Nottingham Forest have ‘stopped at €30m’, which is €10m short of the Old Lady’s demand.
Despite the difference, there’s expectation for the operation to go through due to Juve general manager Damien Comolli to sell Luiz and use that funds to sign Sporting’s Morten Hjulmand.
Monday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport reports the Premier League club have reached an agreement in principle with Luiz for a five-year contract worth €2.5m per year.
Corriere adds the ‘sticking point’ is the formula of the operation as Nottingham Forest want to sign him on loan with a purchase option, while Juve want it to be an obligation of around €40m.
This contradicts Quotidiano Sportivo’s claim that Nottingham Forest have offered €30m to buy the Brazil international.
To sum it up, Luiz is said to have agreed personal terms, and Nottingham Forest have to find an agreement with Juve. It could be via a permanent signing or loan.
