Koumas, 19, spent last season on loan at Stoke City in the second tier. He scored six goals in 49 games in all competitions for the Potters.
In this latest update regarding his situation by the LiverpoolEcho, the Blues are keen. However, he is also on the radar of Norwich City and Preston North End, whilst the likes of Sheffield United, Hull City, Oxford United and Wrexham have also been mentioned as potential suitors.
Wales manager Craig Bellamy told The Guardian last year: “With Lewis, every bit I’ve seen of him, I’ve just loved. Fearless. He’s one of those players who just, every time he has it, you feel like something’s going to happen, something positive happens.
“They’re the players you would love to coach or you’d love to just go and watch. I’m sure he would have looked at Aaron (Ramsey) for a number of years as well. Now, he gets to see what elite really looks like in a character like Aaron. I’d like to believe that’s going to develop a player like Lewis quicker.”

What now for Birmingham City?
Birmingham City begin the new campaign with a tricky home clash against Ipswich Town on Friday night under the lights. BCFC lock horns with a Tractor Boys side who were relegated from the Premier League last term along with Leicester City and Southampton.
The Blues have delved into the market in this window to bring in the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, Tommy Doyle and James Beadle, among others. They have the chance to sign more players before the deadline on Monday 1st September.
In the meantime, it remains to be seen whether they will lodge an offer for Koumas at Liverpool. If they did, they would need to see off competition from the likes of Norwich City and Preston North End.
