Manchester United have been competing with Newcastle United for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško this summer.
Recent claims from the UK and elsewhere reported Newcastle have made a €75m plus bonuses offer and that the Bundesliga club have rejected it.
Manchester United are said to have tabled a proposal to sign the striker. That’s according to Kicker, relayed by Fussball Transfers, who make no mention of the details of their offer.
They say the Red Devils offer is in a ‘similar range’ to Newcastle’s and they haven’t outbid the Magpies. The German club may also turn this down, considering it’s not more than what Eddie Howe’s side have proposed.
Šeško, for his part, dreams of moving to the Premier League and needs to decide between Ruben Amorim’s side and Newcastle.
Another report from Kicker says both Manchester United and the Magpies want to take the Slovenia international away from Leipzig ‘for a lot of money’. The asking price is said to be around €80m.
If Leipzig were to sell Šeško for €80m, they will invest part of it to sign his replacement. The report adds Göztepe’s Rômulo Cardoso and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Fábio Silva have been identified as two targets.
