Ruben Amorim convinced Man Utd ace who‘does everything 100%’will start 2025/26 in good form

Ruben Amorim is an encouraged man right now as Manchester United have started dancing to his tunes somewhat in this pre-season.

The latest result, a 2-2 draw against Everton, saw them finish the USA tour unbeaten with three positive performances, each having different standout performers.

Bryan Mbeumo had an exciting debut, while Matheus Cunha has impressed in multiple positions in the system already.

A player whose form has flown under the radar, however, was brought up by Ruben Amorim after the draw against Everton. He’s convinced he’s set for a big 2025/26.

Ruben Amorim praises Mason Mount

Mason Mount has been a favourite of Amorim ever since he walked through the door at Old Trafford.

Even when Mount was struggling, there was never any doubt over his role at the club as long as Amorim was there.

The United No. 7 ended 2024/25 on a bright note, staying injury-free and making decisive contributions, especially in Europe.

However, with two No. 10s arriving, Mount’s role was uncertain, but he’s taken the bull by the horns again and really impressed during the pre-season.

He scored a brilliant goal against Everton in the draw, and Amorim was convinced after the game that Mount will carry this confidence into the new season when it starts competitively.

Amorim said: “Yeah [Mount will carry this form]. Because he does everything 100%, every training, every game, he’s always the same player. That is the only thing for you to maintain the consistency. He works a lot.”

Mount has a clear role at Man Utd

The addition of Mbeumo and Cunha does make it more difficult for Mount to remain an undisputed starter, but it can be argued that he shouldn’t have that status anyway due to his injury problems.

Now that two players are ahead of him in that position, Mount can focus on making an impact off the bench with his energy.

He will also be crucial in the bigger games, where United won’t dominate territory and possession. His work off the ball will become crucial in those games.

Overall, a player of his qualities and work ethic will always manage to carve out a clear role for himself, and he proved it again vs Everton.

“Like a new signing” is a cliché, but Mount really might be like one now that he has had a proper pre-season under a manager who loves him.
