Everton need more than €15m – Toffees official travels, impressed by player

At the weekend, Africa Foot reported Everton had sent a scout to Denmark to watch FC Midtjylland’s Franculino Djú in action.

They stated his performance impressed the Merseyside club, who have also made contact with the 21-year-old’s agent.

Campo.dk also report an Everton official was in attendance to watch the striker live against Hibernian FC in the Europa League qualifiers last week.

Franculino Djú has scored five goals and registered an assist from four matches this season and was an unused substitute in his side’s goalless draw against AGF yesterday.

After the match, Midtjylland manager Thomas Thomasberg spoke to Campo.dk about the Everton target’s situation.

“Of course, I would like to see him available for us in the autumn. I would like to see that with all our talented players. Basically, we have many talented players who are attractive to other clubs,” he said.

“The management knows what I want when it comes to the squad, but in terms of whether an offer comes from one or another club all of a sudden, I stay away from that. I work with those I have available, and they must stay focused on what awaits us.”

In short, the manager is aware he may not be able to stop an exit if the club receive a tempting offer for the player.

Everton’s interest in the Guinea-Bissau international is further backed up by Denmark’s Bold. He managed 16 goals and six assists from 41 games last season.

His performance over the last 12 months or so has already attracted interest from the Toffees, AS Roma, Bologna and Villarreal.

According to the report, Bologna are currently ahead of David Moyes’ side and others in the race. They are said to be preparing to offer €15m plus bonuses.

The Danish club rejected a €20m bid for Franculino Djú in May.

If Everton are keen on the frontman, they have to find a way to get ahead of Bologna, probably by offering more than €15m in fixed fee.
