Derby County's Harrison Armstrong (right) was excellent in his loan spell.
David Moyes expects progress in Everton's transfer activity this week which could hold the key to the future of former Derby County loanee Harrison Armstrong.
Armstrong featured in Everton's draw against Manchester United last night as the two sides fought out a 2-2 draw in the States.
The midfielder also played in a 2-1 friendly defeat to West Ham but he made his mark in that game as he created the goal for Idrissa Gueye. Everton have not ruled out sending Armstong out on loan again after he enjoyed a brilliant spell with Derby last season as he played a key role in helping them to Championship survival.
Armstrong scored the first senior goal of his career with a special volley in a win at Plymouth and became a firm favourite with the fans due to his tenacity.
The player himself said he would be open to a return, but matters have been complicated due to Everton's lack of transfer activity which led to Moyes showing his frustration about their progress last week.
But he said after the draw against United that there is movement on the horizon.
"I think there will be deals next week, we’re getting much closer," he said.
"But I have to say, I felt that four or five weeks ago as well, but we’re getting near the tickly bit soon and we’ve got to get some things done.
"We have to make several additions, we know that, even for the numbers. We have people in the squad where we’d maybe like to put them out on loan or do other things with them.
"So we’re needing generally to add to the squad and we need to get some of the main players in quickly.
"But I’ve been saying it from near enough the minute we finished against Newcastle that we have to get it done and I feel like we should be further down.
"But in the main, it looks as if we’re getting closer to things and hopefully a few things will come to fruition this week.
"If we didn’t, I’d have to be confident I can make something with what we’ve got and find a way around it and get results.
"It’s not that easy in the Premier League and you can see we need a lot. We’ve got a lot of things to do to get better.
"We should have Jarrod returning when we go back to training on Wednesday with any luck, we’ll have Tarky [James Tarkowski] returning. It at least feels like we’re getting the players we had last year ready so let’s hope so."
