**A new update has now emerged regarding the future of an “unbelievable” Liverpool player, courtesy of reliable journalist David Ornstein.**
It continues to be a busy summer for the Reds, who continue to eye a move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.
Liverpool saw their opening £110m offer for the 25-year-old rejected last week, and while a second bid hasn’t yet arrived, that could change if the Magpies bring in a new striker such as Benjamin Sesko or Yoane Wissa.
While Luis Diaz has left the Reds for Bayern Munich, there are other attacking players who could still move on before the end of the summer transfer window, from Federico Chiesa to Darwin Nunez.
Providing an update on [_X_](https://x.com/David_Ornstein/status/1952058270824460329) on Sunday evening, Ornstein claimed that Nunez is a “priority target” for Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, who are “stepping up” their pursuit of him.
_“Al Hilal identify Darwin Nunez as priority target & stepping up efforts to sign Liverpool striker. No bid yet but interest registered to LFC + Al-Hilal plans to push for 26yo accelerated internally. Uruguay int’l receptive to possibility.”_
**The ideal ending to Nunez’s Liverpool career?**
-------------------------------------------------
It is clear that Arne Slot doesn’t consider Nunez a part of his plans moving forward, so it’s now a case of Liverpool getting as much money as possible for him this summer.
Admittedly, they likely won’t get all of the £85m they paid Benfica for his services three years ago, but it looks like a healthy amount will still come their way before the window slams shut.
Nunez has been a disappointment for Liverpool overall, even though he was described as “unbelievable” by [Ally McCoist](https://onefootball.com/en/news/ally-mccoist-praises-unbelievable-darwin-nunez-in-liverpools-victory-over-psg-40797732) last season after assisting Harvey Elliott’s winner away to Paris Saint-Germain, as well as scoring some important goals.
The Uruguayan has never found that next level in his game, with his finishing proving to be erratic and his tactical nous arguably not at the level of those around him.
Nunez is simply a player that hasn’t worked out like Liverpool would have hoped, but he will leave as a popular with the fans, who will only wish him well.
