'I'm not crying' - Daniel Farke clarifies Leeds United transfer stance as striker hunt continues

It is about quality rather than quantity for Daniel Farke in Leeds United's quest for attacking reinforcements. The Whites chief is acutely aware of the need for the Whites to bolster their attack ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Leeds Live understands a new left winger and striker are on Farke's agenda as the German looks to build a side capable of competing in the Premier League. It is also not out of the question that United recruit a new No 10 to push Brenden Aaronson for a starting place.

Farke reiterated after Saturday's friendly against Villarreal that Mateo Joseph and Patrick Bamford are not in his first team plans. If Joseph and Bamford leave Elland Road over the coming weeks, it will leave the Whites low on options up front.

The Whites have yet to bring in a replacement for Manor Solomon after the Israel international winger returned to Tottenham Hotspur following his stellar loan spell. They missed out on signing Igor Paixao, with the Brazilian opting to join Marseille.

When asked how many offensive players he would like to sign, Farke told the media: "It's not too much about numbers. Many, many strikers don't help you because mostly you play one or two. If the group is too big, it could be counter productive. In terms of spirit and togetherness, I don't feel like I need 35 outfield players. I believe in a tight group where everyone has a task and is needed.

"I'm not crying for too many numbers anyhow but it's obvious in all offensive positions we definitely need reinforcements to improve us. We will see what the outcome is in reality.

"But it's not about the numbers; it's more about the quality of the players that we bring in. They need to be improvements to what we currently have."

Farke's side conclude their pre-season preparations with a friendly versus AC Milan at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday.
