Favourite 5 PL managers to win the sack race

Premier League clubs have gone all guns blazing in the transfer market with numerous high-profile arrivals and departures.

Despite the extravaganza during the summer transfer market, some teams have also been unable to spend due to financial constraints. Managers of these teams could be heading for the exit doors if they start the 2025/26 campaign in poor fashion.

Some managers seem to be struggling despite spending the big bucks in the transfer market. Only if footballing success was guaranteed to bring the most money spent in transfer windows, Paris Saint-Germain would have achieved its treble at least a decade ago.

At Essential Football, we have listed 5 managers who could be first to face the axe in the upcoming season.

Graham Potter

The West Ham United manager has endured a torrid time in the transfer market. The team had to wait for an eternity before Mohammed Kudus completed his transfer to Tottenham Hotspur, before proceeding to try to make their own moves in the transfer market.

Potter faces the prospect of entering his first full season as West Ham gaffer without the liberty of making significant and necessary changes to his squad.

It would be safe to say that Potter is treading on thin ice given the poor start to his tenure last season after replacing Julen Lopetegui at the Hammers helm.

Ruben Amorim

Unlike West Ham United, Amorim’s side has spent heavily in the transfer market adding Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Diego Leon.

However, Manchester United have made some poor decisions in the past, and the performance of their new arrivals in the red of United is yet to be verified.

Ruben Amorim could be facing the sack at Old Trafford with no big results to back him up thus far during his time in charge last season despite making the Europa League final where of course they lost to Spurs.

Nuno Espirito Santo

Despite impressing last season with Nottingham Forrest, Nuno could soon be looking for greener pastures.

A lot of new problems seem to be arising as the new season draws closer, with the club yet to sign a replacement for star man Anthony Elanga who joined Newcastle United.

Despite Morgan Gibbs-White not joining Spurs and signing a new deal at the City Ground, the situation seems uneasy spelling lots of trouble for Santo.

New signings seem to have been slow joining the team and with a Europa League campaign to prepare for reinforcements are needed.

Keith Andrews

Brentford have made peace with several notable departures this summer, Bryan Mbuemo and Christian Norgaard have already left with more expected to join them in leaving the G Tech Stadium.

This could be alarming trouble for first-time head coach, Keith Andrews who has been tasked with replacing long-time manager Thomas Frank.

Brentford owner Mathew Benham will need to pull off more astute transfer moves to give Andrews the squad he needs for the PL if they are to avoid a relegation battle. The new Irish manager certainly has his work cut out for him.

Regis le Bris

Sunderland have invested to bolster their squad in order to stay in the Premier League adding the likes of Bundesliga winner Granit Xhaka and keeper Robin Roefs already. The team are also linked with signing Chelsea striker Marc Guiu.

However, the Premier League is the finest league in the world, and money is not necessarily the determining factor.

Ipswich Town FC learnt the same the hard way last season and now competes in the Championship. It remains to be seen if Regis le Bris can handle the mammoth task at hand.
