Earlier on Monday, Corriere dello Sport reported Nottingham Forest have agreed personal terms with Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz.
There was no agreement with the Italian club on a transfer fee or the formula of a move, with the Bianconeri demanding an obligation to buy inserted in a deal.
TuttoSport, Turin’s sport newspaper, now report Nottingham Forest are ahead of other competitors in the race for the Brazilian.
They indicate Juve want to execute a deal that earns them €40m, having signed him for a fee approaching €50m last season. They don’t want to record a capital loss on their accounts.
Developments are expected in the next few hours on a move to Nottingham Forest, report Tuttosport, with Juventus hoping to hit that €40m figure.
Nottingham Forest reportedly tried to sign the 27-year-old in the January transfer window, when the Brazilian decided it wasn’t the move he wanted.
New sporting director Edu Gaspar had tried to sign him at Arsenal and is said to be a key driving force behind the Tricky Trees’ move this summer.
The midfielder struggled due to fitness and tactical problems last season, having failed to fit in with former manager Thiago Motta’s system.
