Guiu was expected to arrive in the North East on Sunday afternoon to undergo his medical and complete his move to the [Black Cats](http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/sunderland), but, as reported by Sky Sports, the teenager's flight was then postponed.
[Sunderland's](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/sunderland/) agreement remains in place with Chelsea, however, and there's still an expectation on all sides that the deal will go through. He's expected in the North East in the coming days.
Guiu is highly rated at Stamford Bridge, having made 16 appearances for Enzo Maresca's first team last season following his arrival from boyhood club Barcelona last year.
The versatile attacker played seven times in the Europa Conference League, scoring six goals and will further bolster a forward line that has been strengthened by the arrivals of Chemsdine Talbi and Simon Adingra this summer.
Sunderland will pay a loan fee for Guiu and will fund all of the forward's Chelsea wages, with the switch set to be a straight loan without a clause for a possible permanent deal next summer.

The likes of Ian Poveda, Hemir, Abdoullah Ba, Timothée Pembélé are all available to leave, and while Ahmed Abdullahi and Milan Aleksic remain in the club's long-term thinking, Sunderland will allow both players to go out on loan this summer in the hope they benefit from regular football.
Sunderland complete their pre-season programme with a double-header this coming weekend. The Black Cats travel to Germany to take on Augsburg on Saturday before returning to England to host Spanish side Rayo Vallecano at the Stadium of Light on Sunday teatime.
