Report: Chelsea have now given £23m youngster permission to have medical ahead of permanent move

After bringing in several new players earlier in the summer, Chelsea are finally starting to offload some of their unwanted assets.

For example, Chelsea sold Joao Felix last week, with the forward joining Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.

They could also be set to offload Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. According to Fabrizio Romano, Everton have made a bid for Dewsbury-Hall and the Blues are open to selling him.

However, the Englishman is not the only midfielder who could leave Stamford Bridge between now and the end of the transfer window.

Lesley Ugochukwu set for Burnley medical

Like Dewsbury-Hall, Lesley Ugochukwu could also be set to join another Premier League club.

As per The Athletic, Chelsea have given the 21-year-old permission to have a medical at Burnley ahead of a permanent move to Turf Moor.

Big things were expected of Ugochukwu following his £23m move from Rennes back in 2023.

There is a belief inside Chelsea that Ugochukwu is quite similar to Aurelien Tchouameni of Real Madrid. Ugochukwu, though, has not had the chance to prove that to Chelsea supporters.

Last season, the Frenchman was on loan at Southampton, while the campaign before that he struggled to stay fit.

It now looks like Ugochukwu will have to fulfil his potential and show his similarities to Tchouameni elsewhere.

Lesley Ugochukwu’s record at Chelsea

If Ugochukwu’s transfer to Burnley goes through as expected, the former Rennes man will finish his Chelsea career having made just 15 appearances for the club.

While injuries did not help him when he first joined the Club World Cup winners, he was up against Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez for a spot in the Chelsea team.

Simply put, Ugochukwu was always going to find it difficult to become a regular starter at Stamford Bridge. With that in mind, then, a permanent move to Burnley could be good for the player and his development.

With Andrey Santos and Dario Essugo now in Chelsea’s squad, nothing was going to change for him.
